Project Description:

Undergraduate research intern/assistant for laser-based additive manufacturing of metallic alloys.

Assist research scientists and graduate students with research activities, while developing skillset to conduct independent research.

Research sponsored by US Office of Naval Research and US Army Research Laboratory.

Demonstration of excellence and proactiveness by interns may lead to paid position as undergraduate research assistants.

Student Responsibilities: Excellence in academic credentials to demonstrate responsibility; Completed EGN 3365 with excellent record. Motivation and dedication for problem solving and project/task completion. Interns are typically trained by graduate students and research scientists to gain experimental skillset for conduct independent research topic. Only students with serious dedication for research need to apply.
Student Requirements: Laser-based additive manufacturing of metallic alloys. Metallographic preparation; optical and electron microscopy; powder processing by gas atomization; powder-bed fusion additive manufacturing; mechanical testing; CAD.
