Project Title: Free-space-optical and visible light communications
Project Description:

The free-space-optical communications group at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Central Florida is looking for self-motivated undergraduate research students. The selected candidates will perform cutting-edge research in optical wireless (free-space-optical) communications and networking. Student Responsibilities: The candidates are expected to meet the following criteria:- Pursuing B.S. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.- Strong background in mathematics and alytical thinking.- Good hardware prototyping skills.- Good programming and software integration skills.- Background in communication networks is desirable, but interested candidates from other areas are also welcome.- Knowledge of (or interest in) optical wireless communications and networking is a big plus.- Ability to pursue independent research.- Ability to work in an inter-discipliry team.
Student Requirements: Work with grad students and faculty to develop toy prototypes using optoelectronic components. Perform experimental tests and measure performance of communication and networking efficiency of various prototypes.
